Original song, written to the tune of “Little Margaret” around 1963.
There is a girl that we all know for her my heart does sigh For I loved that girl, since I don't know when and I'll love her till I die I tried to tell her of my love and I'd tell her sure tonight But she left me on a cloudy day and since then nothings' been right But I'll search across this wide, wide world from here to who knows where And I'll never rest till I find my girl and I tell her that I care.
Found in an old notebook on an undated, faded sheet of paper. It was written with a mechanical pencil and capitalization and punctuation is as shown. There is no reference to the name of the artist or the album that the song “Little Margaret” came from, but I believe it was Walter Forbes’ 1963 “Folk Song Festival” album.
