My Facebook Page Was Cloned!
Someone has figured out how to clone facebook accounts. Using a phony yahoo.com email address, they registered an account in my name, made it look like my current facebook page and started sending friend invites to people on my friends list.
Soon after accepting a friend request from the Cloned user, my friend would received a chat message from “me”.
This is a transcript that was forwarded to me — edited for readability.

- At this point my friend dropped the connection.
- Another friend sent me a screenshot, showing an email address… my name misspelled at yahoo.com.
- Finally, a third friend reported that they searched for their own name and found a cloned page…
I, along with a bunch of my friends, reported the cloned account to facebook. Nothing has happened and the account is still visible.
- My real page; http://www.facebook.com/robert.vancleef
- The cloned page; http://www.facebook.com/robertvan.cleef.12
Needless to say, Let’s be careful out there.
For what it is worth — The Cloned Page Is Still There!
Obviously, Facebook cares.
