Mobil Country Club Community: We hit the Jackpot!

SOB: Son of a Bos'n Posted on July 29, 2019 by BobJuly 29, 2019

My wife, Mary, and I could not keep up with the rising rate of the cost of living in our home town of San Jose, California. We decided to sell our home and move to Sacramento County.  After some searching, we chose a Manufactured/Mobile Home Community In Rancho Cordova, the Mobil Country Club (MCC).1The formal spelling of Mobil is without the letter “e”, as you can see in the photo of the sign.  Sacramento County offered us a chance to … Continue reading →

Making America Respectful Again

SOB: Son of a Bos'n Posted on June 19, 2019 by BobSeptember 22, 2019

Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, Presidential candidate Donald Trump visited San Jose.  We were notified that there would be traffic congestion and possible protests near the convention center but didn’t have any reason to go near it, so we ignored the event. After attending a VTA Board meeting, we caught the light rail to start our journey home.  We were also trying to track down information about reported problems with protestors near the convention center.  When we got to our stop at … Continue reading →

U-Turns on Alum Rock

SOB: Son of a Bos'n Posted on April 8, 2017 by BobApril 8, 2017

The community living, working and commuting along Alum Rock Avenue has been dealing with construction issues related to the new Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT) system for over three years.   Recently they discovered that the street modifications came with some unexpected changes. The bottom line is that many are upset that left turns and U-turns, which they have depended on for decades are no longer an option, hindering their access to homes and businesses. Left Turns and U-Turns between US 101 … Continue reading →

Republican Politics

SOB: Son of a Bos'n Posted on March 30, 2016 by BobMarch 30, 2016

I wrote the following post in 2009. I received a call from a close friend the other day. After “catching up”, he shifted to the reason behind his call. He and his wife were bothered by the debate on health care. Knowing that I was involved with the Republican Party, he called to express his concerns. His concerns were simple. In all of the reports on the Health Care debate, he did not see a true debate. He heard over … Continue reading →
